About Lynne Redmond Dorcas -
I am an instructor and trainer as well as a long term Horse Enthusiast. I teach Saddleseat, Hunter, Jumping as well as Western out of two stables located in the Calgary area – Airdrie Equestrian Center and L & M Stables. I originally started riding basic seat and jumping and moved over to the Saddlebred breed at the age of 10, showing a big bold bay gelding named “Bottoms Up” in the 5-Gaited division with instructor Archie Hurst. Kick starting my show career with that adrenaline rush set the stage for the continued pursuit of the same for many years.
After many years of Amateur Showing and Training I began doing it professionally. In 1998 I started with Bridleridge Equine Center and was resident manager, trainer and instructor until March of 2001. I then went on to form Camelot. I have many long term students that are now just part of my extended family. It is fun to share the horse experience with them. My students ride in various disciplines. I specialize in Equitation (Junior and Senior Riders) for Saddleseat, Hunt Seat and Western, but teach Jumping as well. Many of my students compete and show and others are pleasure riders or do Pony Club. The focus is on setting personal goals, whatever they may be and working to reach them.
In the past several years Camelot Riders have had many accomplishments both in the Show Ring and out. Whether it is winning ribbons or provincial high point awards, the purchase of a new mount, working to train a new horse or simply the thrill of jumping higher than you thought you could…. We try to focus on the individual goals of the horse and rider and develop a plan to attain them. What sets us apart from most other trainers is that Camelot students do most of the work themselves. With a clear training plan and assistance from Lynne, the riders work toward getting to their goals hands on. Some students are working their Show Horses, their Jumping Horses, or on their Equitation. It is the personal goal of the individual that is foremost in the program.
